One being not that bad and ten being straight up white trash...

I did something really obnoxious today. I tried a new grocery store to see if I'd like it and after filling my cart about halfway with products that weren't quite what I needed, I got frustrated and abandoned my half-full cart in the diaper aisle.
On a scale of one to ten, how tacky was that? Note: There were perishable items in the cart. Second note: It was a really terrible grocery store.

10 because of your selfish act, you have singlehandedly caused the price of gasoline to skyrocket.

I did that one time when I was in Sweden. Mike couldn't believe it, but the store was so GROSS that I couldn't possibly eat anything that came out of it. The milk aisle was covered in a puddle of stinky rotten milk. . .that was the last straw.

I guess I'll have to go with a mild 3 since I did it myself and didn't feel all that guilty.

Hmmm...I tend to agree with the 10, but I'm not seeing a direct correlation to gasoline.

Was that an attempt at "de-shopping"? I usually avoid perishable items when I "de-shop", so grocery stores are usually not quite as satisfying.

8, only because of the perishable stuff...

No grocery store has ever pissed me off that much.

Places in the mall, yes.

Places like WalMart, yes.

I've abandoned a cart or two in the middle of Target, sure.

Once, in the 99 Cents Only store (where I stock up on goodies to raffle off on sub days), I left my VERY full cart IN the check out line, with an audible "Forget this!" escaping my lips as I stomped away...

But never a grocery store.

I've been fed up enough to not return to that particular grocery store ever again, but at the point where I've filled up on items I know I'm going to prepare during the week I figure it's less of a pain to just live through it and check out.

I have to give it a 4, but only because of the perishables.

Otherwise, it would have been a 1.

Seriously, it's not that bad.

And what the hell do abandoned grocery carts have to do with gas prices, anyway?

It's not that bad. I'd give it a 3 or 4 because I've done stuff like that myself... (though not with perishables) I understand.

If it weren't for people like us, think how many teenagers would not have after-school jobs? Someone has to (1) leave carts in random areas of the parking lot (2) carry a box of Juicy Juice around until deciding it's too expensive and leaving in next to the kitty litter (3) leave 1/2 full carts in the aisle.

You did a good deed, if you look at it that way ;)

The gas thing was a comment that in the grand scheme of things, this rated much less than a 10.

I am, however, reminded of a episode of "All in the Family" where Archie takes a hammer to a dozen eggs and leaves them behind some other product. Don't remember why though.
